Best Halloween Books For Kids

In this post I will show you the best Halloween books for kids.

Reading stories was a big part of my childhood and it is important that I share this love with my own children. I am a kid of the 90s and I don’t really remember Halloween being such a big thing 30 years ago. As a kid growing up in England, autumn was always about Guy Fawkes night. As I get older though, I am more than happy to embrace anything seasonal (even if you will never catch me watching scary movies!) Carry on reading to see my must have stories and leave your own recommendations in the comments.

Classics

We are starting off with classic stories to read children aged 2 years +. I have an emotional attachment to Room on the Broom as it was my daughter’s favourite for a long time. The TV animation is also fantastic as it isn’t overly stimulating and follows the words of the story perfectly. I have also included Funnybones and Paddington’s Trick or Treat as both are British classics that are definitely some of the best halloween books for kids.

Board Books for Preschoolers

I am excited to share some board books with my 6 months old son that have also been favourites with my daughter. There are lots of Meg & Mog stories and we also have the audiobooks which are very short but help break up listening to nursery rhymes in the car! Spot is always a favourite in our house and the Peekaboo books are great interactive stories.

Activity Books

Activity books can be anything from colouring to stickers or magnets. I have included these in the best halloween books for kids as we use these a lot when going out for meals. My daughter LOVES all of the Usborne Sticker Dolly Dressing books (perfect for 4 years+). I have already purchased the Halloween edition ready for October. Bluey is a great show and I love these magnet books for kids. Furthermore, I would also recommend these books for flights as they are mess free.

Final Thoughts

I hope this will be helpful if you are anything like me and always on the hunt for new children’s books. We store all of our seasonal books in storage bins and pull them out around 2 months ahead so they can be enjoyed before I pack them away again. I cannot wait for the start of September when I bring our Halloween books out of storage. Please let me know if you have any other favourites we need to purchase.
