How To Organize Kids Clothes: Tips & Products

In this post you will learn how to organize kids clothes with top tips and products.

As someone who considers themself naturally organised, trying to keep my nearly 5 year old daughter’s bedroom tidy is a never ending battle. In fact, organising her clothes still feels like a work in progress. Things continue to change as she gets older. For example, we have utilised a wardrobe more and more as she gets older because her favourite thing to wear is dresses. I also like storage containers in drawers as they make it easier for her to put her own clothes away now she is ready to put her own things away. Keep reading for some tips I have picked up along the way and to see products I recommend.

Wardrobe Organization

I find a wardrobe the most useful piece of furniture for organizing my daughter’s clothes now she is older. When younger and clothes are smaller, it can be useful to use two hanging rails to maximise space. You can also use hanging organizers and storage bins. Make sure you get children’s hangers. It may seem obvious but I didn’t think about it until I was trying to hang toddler dresses on adult hangers.

Drawer Organization

I prefer using drawers to organize clothes for babies. The items are small and it ends up being more annoying to hang things. Fabric clothes organizers are my preference and you can get cheap ones from Amazon or IKEA that will last for years.

Kids Accessory Organization

I never would have thought children could have so many accessories before I actually had kids. My daughter’s headbands and hair accessories take up lots of space and that is before you get to hats, sunglasses and shoes.

Storage

You will find with kids that you are constantly moving older clothes out and new clothes in. Especially when they are babies, they grow so quickly you will want to have good storage solutions in place for smaller sizes. The best solutions I have found are utilising under the bed or vacuum storage bags.

Final Thoughts

One of the big things with children’s clothes organization, is that you have to be able to adapt as they get older and their needs change. Try and maximise your available space and don’t be afraid if it doesn’t look perfect. The most important thing is that it works for you and your family.
